Thanksgiving Turkey
Ingredients
- 1 turkey
- 1 red onion
- 1 lemon
- 1 apple
- 1 cup butter
- 8 cloves minced garlic
- Rosemary
- Thyme
- Sage
Instructions
Thaw Turkey
- 24 hours for every 4 pounds.
Preparation
- Remove turkey from fridge 2 hours before cooking.
- Chop 1/2 of rosemary, thyme and sage.
- Mix 1 cup butter, herbs and 8 cloves minced garlic.
- Quarter red onion, lemon and apple.
- Pat dry turkey.
- Insert red onion, lemon, apple and 1/2 herbs into turkey.
- Spread butter on turkey.
- Wet inside and outside of paper bag with olive oil.
- Place turkey in bag.
- Place turkey breast side down in roasting pan.
Cooking
- Roast at 325.
- 13 minutes per pound (minus 30 minutes).
- Open bag around 2/3 cooking time.
- Rest for 30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Target internal temperature 160 in breast and thigh.
